Public Relations: the professional maintenance of a favorable public image by a company or other organization or a famous person.

When I tell people I am majoring in Public Relations I always get the same questions, “What is that?,” “So you talk to people?,” “What are you going to do with that?” Many people underestimate what individuals in the Public Relations field do on a day-to-day basis. They have created an image that they see as negative and unfulfilling.


Public Relations professionals are some of the most well-rounded professionals in the market. With knowledge of public affairs, social media, marketing, and communications skills, they hold one of the key career paths.

Some career paths you can pursue with a degree in Public Relations are: Marketing Coordinator

  • Coordinate marketing activities and creativity in an organization, market research, promote campaigns, reach target audiences, and study current trends.

  • Salary: $42,000 - $120,000


Event Coordinator

  • Responsible for all aspects of event planning. Venue selecting, budgeting the cost, event services, ensure client approval for all details.

  • Salary: $24,000 - $87,000

Social Media Specialist

  • Creating content on all social media platforms applicable to your business or organization. Building brand awareness and finding ways to improve overall social media engagement.
